The Aurora University softball team opened the 2022 season with a dominating 9-0 victory over Cornell College in the opening game of the spring trip in central Florida.

    - Both pitchers kept the opposing offenses off balance through the first two innings.
    - In the third, the Spartans struck. 
    - To start the third, the Spartans loaded the bases with a single from Christina Richards, walk from Jordan Seyfried, and Jemma Fiehweg reaching via hit by pitch. 
    - With no outs, the Spartans took advantage of an error and hit by pitch to take a 2-0 lead. 
    - Ashley Talaga singled to left field to bring in Fiehweg and a two-run double from Lexi Rayborn extended the Spartans lead 5-0.
    - AU added two more runs after Delilah Aguirre grounded into a fielders choice that allowed Talaga to score and Tyler Chambers singled to drive in Rayborn. 
    - AU led 7-0 going into the bottom of the third. 
    - In the top of the 4^th Josephine Lytton scored on a pass ball and AU led 8-0.
    - Madelyn Buske dominated in the circle, only giving up two hits while striking out six.
    - With two outs and a runner on second, Jemma Fiehweg hit a run scoring single and AU was now up 9-0
    - Rylee Campbell came on to pitch the fifth, getting two strikeouts and AU was victorious 9-0.
