Spartans take advantage of Pointers errors to sweep

The Aurora University Spartan softball team hosted University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a Friday afternoon non-conference doubleheader. The Spartans swept the Pointers, winning game one 7-2 and game two 10-3.

How it happened
 GAME ONE 
    -The Spartans loaded the bases in the opening frame. The Spartans scored only one when Tyler Chambers grounded out to second base to bring home Josephine Lytton.
    - In the third, Spartan Chambers singled to center field to drive in Jemma Fiehweg who reached on a hit by pitch.
    - Delilah Aguirre followed with a double down right field line to score pitch runner Isabel Morales and the Spartans led 3-0.
    - AU scored again in the fourth with Aguirre's RBI single.
    - Spartan pitcher Hannah Tomasko kept the Pointers offense off balance through the first five innings of the game.
    - In the fifth, Stevens Point added two runs to cut the Spartan lead 4-2.
    - With two outs in the sixth, the Spartans scored two. Ashley Talaga singled to score Fiehweg who doubled to right center.
    - Spartan Lexi Rayborn then hit a two-run home run to extend AU's lead 7-2.
    - The Pointers threatened in the seventh but Hannah Tomasko and the Spartan defense closed the door for the 7-2 win.

How it happened
GAME TWO
    - UWS got on the board first in the bottom of the second scoring two on an inside the park homerun. 
    - The Spartans bats fell silent through the first four innings of the game.
    - In the fifth, Jordan Seyfried tied the game with a single to left center to score Emma Bachio and Delilah Aguirre. 
    - Later in the inning, with two outs and bases loaded, AU took advantage of an error by UWS that cleared the bases and the Spartans extended their lead 5-2.
    - Spartan Tyler Chambers kept the inning alive and singled to score pitch runner Alex Thiel.
    - The Pointers would add one in the bottom of the sixth with a home run.
    - In the top of the 7th, the Spartans added four runs, three of them being unearned.
    - Madelyn Buske set down the Pointers in a 1-2-3 sixth and AU was victorious.
