Spartans suffer first NCHA defeat

The Aurora University men's hockey team took on Marian University in the weekend series finale on Saturday night in Wisconsin. The Spartans dropped their first NCHA contest of the 2022-2023 season, falling 3-1 to the Sabres.

How it happened
- AU got on the board quickly with an even strength tally from Adam Keyes 5:24 into the game. Jack Jaunich and Derrick Budz assisted on the games first goal.
- AU net minder Kolby Thornton and the AU defense made the lone goal stand up heading to the first intermission.
- Neither AU or Marian would score in the second with the Spartans maintaining their 1-0 lead.
- Early in the third, Keyes headed to the penalty box and with two seconds left on the Marian power play, the home team would tie the game.
- Marian took a 2-1 lead with 6:58 to play in the third and added an empty net goal with 37 seconds left for the 3-1 final score.
