Spartans Back In Win Column with victory at Illinois College

The Aurora University women's basketball team took to the road on Tuesday afternoon and traveled to Illinois College for a non-conference match-up with the Lady Blues. The Spartans led for most of the game behind 21 points and six rebounds from Kylie Fischbach and took an 82-76 victory.

How it happened
- After falling behind 9-2 through the first 2:19, AU came storming back on a 21-3 run to finish the first frame.
- Kylie Fischbach started the game out hot with 12 points in the first quarter.
- AU was 5-11 from beyond the arc in the opening quarter and held the Lady Blues to just 29% shooting.
- Macy Kocen drained a three with 6:32 left in the first half to give the Spartans their largest lead of the game at 35-19.
- Gabrielle Wolff started to catch fire as the second quarter came to a close, scoring eight of AU's final 10 points of the half.
- The Spartans took a 44-39 lead into the halftime break.
- A finish at the rim from Fischbach with 3:39 to go in the third quarter allowed AU to regain 56-55 lead that they never lost the rest of the way. 
- The Spartans would finish the third on a 9-1 run to give them a 65-56 lead going into the fourth quarter.
- Kocen was constant presence on the defensive end, collecting four steals in the third quarter alone.
- AU saw their advantage fall to just one possession with two minutes left, but a clutch three-pointer from Kocen extended the Spartans lead to 76-71.
- A couple of free throws from Wolff sealed the deal for the AU to give them the 82-76 victory.
- Kocen finished the game with five steals.
- Sam Barrett paced the AU offense with five assists and finished with only one turnover.
