Aurora University Athletics

The Aurora University softball team split the final day of their spring trip, winning game one against Hiram College 6-5 (9 inn.) and falling in game two 8-1 against UMass Dartmouth.

Game One vs. Hiram College
- The Spartans scored three runs in the top of the second. To start the inning, AU loaded the bases with two walks and a error. Faith Biggs hit a two-run double to center field to score Ashley Talaga and pitch runner Payton Skrezyna.
- Spartan Madison Lung, pitch running for Jordan Seyfried, scored on Kionna King's two out single to put the Spartans up 3-0. 
- The Terriers responded with one from a solo homerun.
- With two outs in the bottom of the third, the Terriers would add one to cut the AU lead 3-2.
- Hiram tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and the game headed into extra innings.
- Mackenzie Burnett started the inning on second and advanced to third on a ground out.
- With one out, Tyler Chambers grounded into a fielders choice that allowed Burnett to score and AU retook the lead.
- Pitch hitter, Emma Bachio scored Chambers after reaching on a fielders choice and the Spartans led by two.
- Hiram tied the game in the bottom half after a Spartan error allowed two to score.
- The top of the ninth saw Faith Biggs placed on second and Jemma Fiehweg at the plate. Biggs stole third on a wild pitch and Fiehweg reached via walk. With no outs, runners on first and third, Kionna King laid a bunt down to score Biggs.
- The Spartans loaded the bases later in the inning but were unable to push any insurance runs across. 
- AU was able to hold Hiram with a runner on third and was victorious 6-5.

Game Two vs. UMass Dartmouth
- UMass Dartmouth got on the board in the first inning with an unearned run.
- The Spartans tied the game in the bottom of the second when Delilah Aguirre scored on a sacrifice fly from Emma Lytton.
- A solo homerun from UMass Dartmouth gave the Corsairs a 2-1 lead in the fifth.
- The Corsairs would add one run in the sixth and five in the seventh off five hits and one Spartan error.
- AU would fall 8-1.
