Spartan women hang on to defeat Rockford

The Aurora University women's basketball team hosted the Rockford University Regents and battled their way to an 81-73 victory. AU out-scored the visitors by 10 in the fourth quarter to hang on to the win.

How it happened
- The visitors jumped out to a 5-0 lead and had their largest lead at 8-2.
- AU answered with a 15-5 run behind six points from Eliot Dojutrek and five from Kyle Fischbach.
- The Spartans would lead 22-20 after one quarter.
- AU built the lead to 10 in the second after a pair of Gabruielle Wolff free-throws.
- The Spartans led 43-35 going to halftime.
- Wolff led all scorers in the first-half with 13 while Selena Vargas had nine rebounds.
- In the third, AU went cold from the field and Rockford managed to score at will and built a 57-52 lead on the Spartans.
- AU would trail 60-58 after three quarters of action. 
- The Spartans went 11-of-13 from the free-throw line in the third quarter which helped stem the cold shooting.
- AU opened the fourth on a 9-0 run with six points from Fischbach and a three from Wolff.
- The AU defense held Rockford scoreless for the first 5:13 of the fourth with the first point coming on a free-throw.
- The fourth quarter run for AU ended at 17-3 on a Selena Vargas lay in to give the Spartans a 75-63 lead with 2:50 to play.
- AU went six-for-six in the final minutes from the free-throw line to seal the 81-73 win.
