Spartans shutout Regents with 69-0 tally

The Aurora University Spartan football team returned home to the Spartan Athletic Park and hosted the Regents of Rockford University. The AU defense shutout the Regents, limiting the visitors to 138 total yards of offense while the AU offense put up 700 in the 69-0 win.

How it happened
- The AU defense forced the high powered Rockford offense to a three and out to start the game and the Spartan offense was off and running.
- A six-play, 75-yard drive followed with Brian Nasr hitting Trey Urwiler on a 16-yard score and a 7-0 Spartan lead.
- AU's Andrew Nordland intercepted a Rockford pass, the first of two on the day for Nordland and five for the Spartans.
- Four plays later, Nasr hit Ty Pruett on a 44-yard strike and a 14-0 Spartan lead.
- As the first quarter came to an end, the Spartans were driving.
- Ta'vion Geanes scored from a yard out on the first play of the second quarter. After a missed PAT, AU led 20-0.
- The Spartan defense absolutely dominated the second quarter with three interceptions and two punts.
- Dylan Regnier had the first interception in the second which set up Nasr and Urwiler for a second time on the day.
- Early in the second, AU led 26-0.
- The next AU possession was just one play with Nasr hitting Steven Gonzalez on a four-yard pass that Gonzalez went the remaining 84-yards to the house.
- A two-point conversion was good and AU led 34-0.
- Ziah Smith then intercepted a Rockford pass to again set up the Spartan offense.
- Geanes scored for the second time, this time going 25-yards up the gut for a 41-0 AU advantage.
- Just before the half, Rockford had a first and goal after an AU interception but Quintarius Davis snuffed out the scoring chance with his third interception of the season in the end zone.
- Heading to halftime, AU led 41-0.
- The Spartans received the second-half kickoff and drove the field after a 49-yard TJ Ramsey return. 
- Tyler Adkins hit Ty Pruett on a 22-yard score and a 48-0 lead.
- Late in the third quarter, Nordland intercepted Rockford for the second time.
- The Spartan offense mounted a seven-play, 80-yard drive with Zackery Russell scoring from seven-yards out for a 55-0 AU lead.
- In the fourth, the Spartan running game took over with a pair of long touchdown runs.
- Liam Mickle scored on a 23-yard keeper to put the Spartans ahead 62-0.
- On the next drive, TJ Ramsey found the right edge and showed his speed, dashing 57-yards untouched for the score.
- AU would go on to win decisively, 69-0.
