The Aurora University men's hockey team hit the ice for their first regular season game in the 2024-2025 campaign on Friday afternoon, facing off against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the Key City Classic hosted by the University of Dubuque. The Spartans saw a lead as big as 6-0 before the second intermission hit, led by two Riley Dekownky goals, before cruising to the 7-2 win over the Pointers.

- The first of AU's seven goals came 12 and a half minutes in when
Landry Schmuck and
Carson Holliday teamed up to find
Matt Weber for the score.
- Just over a minute before the end of the first period,
Riley Dekowny lit the lamp to make it 2-0 in favor of the Spartans. He was assisted by
Eddie Paulissian and
Hassan Akl.
- AU scored two goals early in the second, with the first coming at 2:07 as
Lukas Sedlacek found
Chayce Schmidt for the score. Then, at 2:40, Sedlacek got in on the scoring fun off an assist from
Andrew Schultz.

Landry Schmuck increased AU's lead to 5-0 about halfway through the second. He was assisted by
Juliano Santalucia.
- Dekownky scored his second goal of the game late in the second frame, with Sedlacek and Shultz setting him up for the Spartans 6th goal.
- UWSP scored their first goal on the power-play at the end of the second, making it 6-1 going into the intermission.
- The Pointers added another early in the third to trim AU's lead to 6-2.
- AU started a power-play with 1:15 to go and Paulissian found the back of the net as Dekowny and Akl teamed up for the assists.
