The Aurora University women's hockey team took its first shootout victory of the season in the second game of an opening season series against the Royals of Bethel University 2-2 in Blaine, Minnessota. After a back-and-forth affair that saw a 2-2 tie in regulation, Liza Davies goal gave the Spartans the 2-1 victory in the shootout.

- It took all but 25 seconds for AU to find the back of the net as Cara Cook scored off an assist from Ellie Visser.
- This allowed the Spartans to head to the second period with the 1-0 lead.
- Bethel would find the equalizer at the seven minute mark of the second period.
- This kept the score knotted at one, until the Royals scored to make it 2-1 with just under 10 minutes to go.
- The Spartans went to an empty net with less than two minutes ago, putting an extra attacker on the ice that allowed Anabelle Scriver to score the game tying goal.
- Scriver's goal at 18:39 in the third of a Cook assist tied the game at 2 going into the overtime period.
- Zoie Campbell came up with seven saves in the first overtime period, denying Bethel any opportunity take the victory.
- Cook scored the first shootout goal for the Spartans in the second overtime period, and Liza Davies goal later gave AU the 2-1 shootout victory.
