The Aurora University men's hockey team hit the ice on Friday afternoon for the first game of a two game weekend series against Halime University at Fox Valley Ice Arena. The #5 ranked Spartans put up eight goals in the contest, highlighted by two goal games each from Landry Schmuck and Chayce Schmidt.

- AU got their scoring barrage started with just over five minutes left in the first.
Lukas Sedlacek and
Jakson Kirk teamed up to find
Chayce Schmidt for the Spartan goal.
- Scmidt's first goal of the game gave AU a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
- The Spartans struck just two minutes into the second frame.
Landry Schmuck lit the lamp off assists from
Jacob Brockman and
Andrew Schultz.
- Scmidt didn't waste any time in finding the back of the net again, giving AU a 3-0 lead just 24 seconds after his first goal. This one was also at even strength with assists from
Hassan Akl and
Simon Diaz.
- AU headed to a power play at the 5:08 mark of the second and took less than a minute to take a 4-0 lead.
Eddie Paulissian secured the power play goal for the Spartans off assists from Schmuck and Schmidt.
- Hamline scored their first goal of the game at 14:35 in the second to cut AU's lead to 4-1.
- That 4-1 lead would hold for the Spartans going into the final period of play.

Chase Broda got in on the scoring fun early in the third period when he lit the lamp off a set-up from
Jackson Hay. This made it 5-1 in favor of AU.
- Hay also assisted on the next Spartan goal at 6:05 in the third. After goalie
JaCob Mucitelli played the puck and found Hay, Hay passed one to Brockman who maneuvered between two defenders for AU's sixth goal.
- Just over a minute later, the Spartans took a 7-1 advantage on another Scmidt goal. His second goal of the game was assisted by
Mathis Bedard while AU was at even strength.
- The Spartans headed to a final power play with just under five minutes to go.
Juliano Santalucia converted for AU to add one more to their total.
- Hamline added one more of their own late in the third, but it was not nearly enough in AU's 8-2 victory.
