Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Spartans defeat Green Knights in five crazy sets

The Aurora University men's volleyball team made the long road trip of the season on Friday to take on the Green Knights of St. Norbert College. AU prevailed in one of the craziest matches of the season with AU dominating the three set wins and falling in a pair of close set losses.

The Basics
MATCH SCORE: Aurora University 3, St. Norbert College 2 (25-14, 24-26, 25-13, 22-25, 15-6)
LOCATION: De Pere, Wisconsin
RECORDS: Aurora University 11-9 overall and 6-1 NACC

How it happened
- AU blitzed the Green Knights in the opening set and won easily 25-14.
- The Spartans hit .360 in the set with Josh McLellan hitting .500 with seven kills.
- In what would become a ying and yang of sets, AU trailed 8-1 in set two but worked their way back into the set.
- Coming out of a timeout, AU roared back and took a 14-13 lead.
- The set would go back and forth the remainder of the time with AU falling 26-24.
- The third set was all Spartans who would win 25-14 and 2-1 in the match.
- In possibly the strangest occurrence, the side of the court after the set switch produced a SNC win to tie the match at 2-2.
- The teams would switch for the fifth set and deja vu happened with the Spartans storming out to a 9-1 lead in the fifth.
- AU would go on to win 15-6 and win the match 3-2.
