Spartans keep winning streak rolling at Marian while securing NACC title

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team was back in action on Saturday afternoon at Marian University for their last regular season match up of the 2024 season, with the Spartans looking to finish a perfect 6-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play this season. AU did just that with another 17-goal game on Saturday, including from five from Danielle Cobbett, as the Spartans hold the number one seed going into next week's conference tournament and secure the regular season NACC crown.

How it happened
- It all but 1:17 for Danielle Cobbett to notch a couple of unassisted goals, giving AU an early 2-0 lead.
- Just over a minute later, Cobbett found Caley Russell for another Spartan goal.
- Kenly Axvig got a free position shot with 11:18 to go in the first quarter and converted the opportunity, giving AU a 4-0 lead.
- Russell scored her second goal of the first while AU was on the power play with Grace Pelletier picking up the assist.
- A couple of goals from Brianna Peck before the end of the first gave AU a 7-0 lead going into the second quarter. 
- About halfway through the second, Cobbett picked up another unassisted goal.
- Free position goals from Nicolina Smith and Peck before the end of the second gave AU a 10-0 advantage going into the halftime break.
- Kielly Reeve got in on AU's offensive outburst early in the second half with free position goal.
- After Marian scored their first goal making it 11-1, Russell answered right back with another goal off a dish from Cobbett.
- Cobbett found the back of the net again with 3:58 left in the third quarter, with Pelletier credited with another assist on the tally.
- Axvig scored her second goal of the game late in the third to give AU a 14-1 lead.
- Marian scored right before the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth to cut the Spartan lead to 14-3.
- With 6:48 left, Sydney Mann found the back of the net off an assist from Reeve.
- Peck added her fourth goal of the game with 4:56 to go, while Cobeett added her fifth of the day to help secure the 17-3 AU victory.
- The stifling Spartan defense would allow the Sabres to get only six shots on goal during the contest.
