The Aurora University Spartans Men's Hockey team opened up Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play with a 7-2 win at Lake Forest in the first game of the weekend series.

- Jake Code got the Spartans and games scoring started nine minutes into the game. Chayce Schmidt picked up the helper.
- LFC would score a pair of goals to finish the first and lead AU 2-1 after one.
- 6:06 into the second, Hassan Akl tied up the game with an assist from Jacob Brockman.
- Midway through the second, Simon Diaz scored on the power play to give AU a 3-2 lead. Schmidt and Chase Broda assisted on the game winner.
- Schmidt scored with 1:11 left in the second with assists from Jackson Hay and Jakson Kirk.
- AU led 4-2 going to the third.
- Newcomers found the spotlight in the third period for AU with Ryder Many Grey Horses and Roc Truman each scoring their first goal of their AU career.
- Jaden Davis collected his first two points with a pair of assists on goals and Truman also added an assist.
- Blake Kondor got in on the scoring as well with a goal in the third.
- The Spartans won 7-2 helped by 32 saves in net from Matt O'Donnell.
