Spartans Second-Half Comeback knocks off Muskies

The Aurora University women's basketball team rebounded from a tough two point loss last Saturday when they hit the court in Plymouth, Wisconsin on Wednesday night, picking up a 65-54 victory over Lakeland University. Trailing by double-digits entering the second-half, the Spartans outscored the Muskies 51-27 in the final 20 minutes to pickup their 16th victory of the season.

How it happened
- Each team began the game cold from the field, as AU trailed the Muskies 9-7 after one quarter of play.
- Aurora Eklund ended a 6-0 Lakeland scoring run with a take to the rim in that first quarter with under a minute to play.
- The Muskies began the second quarter on a 15-2 scoring run.
- Riley Doggett drained a three to cut into the Lakeland lead, as the Muskies led 27-14 going into the half.
- Krystyna Manzanarez propelled the AU offense to start the second-half, as the Spartans quickly cut the Lakeland lead to single digits.
- A jumper from Manzanarez with 1:54 to go in the third got AU within one possession at 39-36.
- The Muskies took a 43-36 lead going into the final quarter of play.
- A 12-2 scoring run from AU tied the score at 48 with about six minutes to play.
- Selena Vargas netted four points during that run for the Spartans.
- The Spartans proceeded to outscore Lakeland 17-6 in that final six minutes to take a 65-54 victory.
- Kylie Fischbach tallied two steals for AU defensively during that 17-6 scoring run, as she finished with four steals on the night.
- Manzanarez also drained back-to-back three's during that run for AU, who shot a scorching 70% from the field in the fourth quarter to help them in the win.
