Spartans Explode For Six Goals In final Two Periods For Senior Night Win

The Aurora University men's hockey team hosted Milwaukee School of Engineering in the second game of a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series, as Saturday night marked AU's senior night. Before the contest, the program honored Matt Weber and JaCob Mucitelli, before the Spartans scored six unanswered goals in the final two periods to knock off the Raiders by a score of 6-3. With the victory, AU tied their record for most wins in a season at 19, matching their total from the 2022-2023 season.

How it happened
 - AU secured a power play midway through the opening period, but was unable to take the early lead.
- MSOE scored back-to-back goals near the end of the first period to give the Spartans a 2-0 deficit heading into the first intermission.
- At the 6:40 mark of the second period, the Raiders extended their lead to 3-0 while on the power play.
- The Spartans took just four seconds to find the back of the net after securing a power play of their own at 11:21 in the second.
- Hassan Akl found Landry Schmuck for the score which cut AU's deficit to 3-1.
- AU struck again about five minutes later in the second, this time at even strength. 
- Jacob Brockman lit the lamp this time off assists from Mathis Bedard and Schmuck.
- Schmuck later sniped in his second goal of the game with just over two minutes to go in the second, tying the score at 3.
- Schmuck was assisted by Akl again, as well as Eddie Paulissian getting credited with an assist as well.
- Each team sat at 3 apiece heading into the second intermission.
- Brockman scored a second goal of his own 1:30 into another 5v4 advantage for the Spartans early in the third.
- Brockman was assisted by Jakson Kirk and Juliano Santalucia this time to give AU the 4-3 lead.
- The Spartans didn't stop there, cashing in on another power play at the 8:02 mark of the final period. 
- Chase Broda got in on the scoring fun for AU's fifth goal, as Santalucia picked up his second assist on the score.
- Brockman also earned an assist on Broda's goal, marking his third point of the night.
- John Hallard tacked on one more for the Spartans, this time at even strength. He was assisted by Lukas Sedlacek and Jake Code.
- This helped the Spartans coast to the 6-3 senior night victory over the Raiders.
