Dahlberg Sends Spartans To Victory In Overtime

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team traveled to River Falls, Wisconsin, taking the field for the first time in over a week when they squared off against University of Wisconsin - River Falls. AU trailed the Falcons 8-4 heading into the locker room, but outscored the hosts 8-3 the rest of the way. Olivia Dahlberg led the Spartans with three goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime period, to give AU the 12-11 victory.

How it happened
 - The Falcons took only 30 seconds to get on the board, but Olivia Dahlberg answered back for AU less than a minute later in the first with a free-position goal.
- With 11:59 to go in the first, Kenly Axvig gave the Spartans their first lead at 2-1 after finding the back of the net.
- After UWRF tied the score at two, Kielly Reeve scored a free-position goal of her own for AU at the 9:35 point in the first.
- UWRF closed out the first with three-straight goals to give the Spartans a 5-3 deficit going into the second.
- That lead stretched to 6-3 for the Falcons, before Sydney Breitenstein made it 6-4 after ripping one into the back of the net for AU off an assist from Sydney Mann.
- The Falcons took an 8-4 lead going into the halftime break.
- Coming off a timeout from AU early in the second half, Brianna Peck joined the scoring fun in the third to cut the AU deficit to 8-5.
- Axvig collected her second goal later in the third, but another goal from the Falcons made it 9-6 heading into the final quarter of play.
- Nicolina Smith secured a free-position goal early in the fourth, before Breitenstein scored her second goal off an assist from Dahlberg to make it a one goal game at 9-8.
- UWRF later took a 10-8 lead in the fourth.
- At 6:28 in the fourth, Dahlberg continued her strong day with a free-position goal, before back-to-back goals from Caley Russell and Peck gave the Spartans an 11-10 lead.
- With 37 seconds remaining, the Falcons tied the score at 11 to send the game into overtime.
- UWRF out shot Aurora 4-1 in the first overtime, but neither team managed to find the back of the net.
- In the second overtime, AU's Dahlberg scored the game-winning goal with 2:01 remaining off another assist from Mann, ending a back-and-forth contest.
