Spartans back to .500 behind 21 goals against Beloit

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team took on the Buccaneers of Beloit College on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Athletic Park, as the Spartans reached their highest goal total of the season at 21 with five coming from Brianna Peck in the 21-5 victory.

How it happened
- Olivia Dahlberg secured a free position opportunity early in the first for the Spartans and found the back of the net to give them a 1-0 lead.
- About a minute and a half later at 11:13 in the first, Ari Rootberg increased that lead to 2-0 for AU.
- Back-to-back goals from Brianna Peck at 10:45 and 10:28 in the first, the first of which came on a power play assisted by Kenly Axvig, made it 4-0 for AU. 
- Sydney Breitenstein and Caley Russell continued the Spartan scoring barrage in the first giving Beloit a 6-0 deficit.
- At 4:27 in the opening quarter, Russell found the back of the net again for AU off an assist from Peck.
- About two minutes later, the Spartans stretched their lead to 8-0 after Ava Courtney sniped one into the back of the net.
- Beloit scored their first goal with just over two minutes left in the first to make it 8-1.
- Three more goals from AU within the first four minutes of the second gave them an 11-1 lead over the Buccaneers.
- About halfway through the second, Beloit found the back of the net again to trim their deficit to 11-2.
- Russell and Axvig each picked up one more score en route to AU taking a 13-2 lead into the halftime break.
- AU's lead quickly stretched to 15 early in the second half after two more goals, one from Peck and one from Axvig.
- Peck, Dahlberg, Breitenstein and Courtney each had another score in the remaining 12:26 of the third as the Spartans carried a 19-2 lead into the fourth.
- Beloit scored within the first minute of the fourth to trim the AU lead to 19-3.
- Brightenstein and Dahlberg each added another score towards the middle of the fourth to give the Spartans a 21-3 lead.
- Despite two goals from Beloit in the remaining 7:30, AU notched the 21-5 victory.
