Spartans capture NACC title with five set win at MSOE

The Aurora University Spartan men's volleyball team traveled north for a winner take all match in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Spartans and Raiders went five sets with the Spartans out-lasting the hosts in a thrilling contest 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13). With the win, the Spartans secured their first out-right NACC title and third in as many years.

How it happened
- AU fell in the opening set 25-22.
- The second set never saw either team lead by more than two points and had seven lead changes with the score tied 15 times.
- With the Spartans trailing 24-23, SJ Nelson drove home a kill to tie the score and vault the Spartans to a match tying 26-24 set win.
- Connor Carroll served up an ace for the set winner while Logan Brouwer handed out 11 assists.
- The third set was all AU with a 25-18 set win fueled by 16 Brouwer assists and the attack hitting .386.
- In the fourth set, the lead would change hands five times with 14 tie scores.
- The hosts would pull away late and defeat AU 25-22 to send the match to a winner take all fifth set.
- MSOE led for most of the fifth set but the Spartans remained within striking distance.
- After an AU timeout, the Spartan rally began while down 10-6.
- The AU block brigade went to work late in the set as Ammar Brzovic and Brouwer stoned back to back attacks to give the Spartans a 14-13 lead.
- After calling timeouts after both AU blocks, a MSOE attack error gave the 15th and final point to the Spartan who won the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
- Josh McLellan had four kills to lead the fifth set and Brzovic and Brouwer each had two blocks.
- The Spartans celebrated in receiving the 2025 NACC Men's Volleyball trophy from the NACC Comissioner.
