Spartans complete sweep at Ripon College Classic

The Aurora University women's volleyball team remained unbeaten to start the 2025 season at the Ripon College Classic, sweeping day two, defeating Martin Luther 3-0 and Saint Mary's Minnesota 3-1.

How it happened
MATCH ONE:
- AU led quickly in the opening set on the way to a 25-14 victory.
- Strong defense fueled by nine Katie Brisk digs fueled the AU offense that saw four Alissa Hulst kills.
- Five aces backed the Spartans second set win of 25-20.
- Brisk, Meredith Milz, Trinity Nelson and Alissa Hulst had the aces in the win.
- AU overcame and early deficit and rolled to a 25-11 victory to seal the match.
- Hulst added four more kills with Nelson dishing out eight assists.

MATCH TWO
- The Spartans and Cardinals battled closely but with the score tied 10-10 AU began to pull away.
- Four kills from Sophie Knazur in the final scoring run led the way as AU won 25-19.
- Katelyn Ruse led the set with six kills and Trinity Nelson had 16 assists with AU hitting .366.
- AU never trailed in the second set and held on to win 25-21.
- Nelson added 13 more assists with Izabella Kowalczyk leading with five kills.
- Six more Kowalczyk kills and five from Ruse were not enough in the third set as AU fell 25-21.
- The Spartans found themselves in a decent deficit in the fourth set but they methodically chipped away.
- AU finished the set on a 13-6 scoring run to win 26-24.
- Nelson added 14 more assists and her service ace to give the Spartans the 25-24 lead was a huge momentum boost.
