Spartans fall in battle of nationally ranked teams

An over flowing crowd at Spartan Athletic Park saw the No. 22 Aurora University Spartans host the No. 15 University of Wisconsin Platteville on Saturday afternoon. A crowd of over 2,000 would see the Spartans fall to the Pioneers 41-0.

How it happened
- Both teams punted to start the game with the Spartans setting up for their second drive at their own 11 yard line.
- UWP intercepted a Tyler Adkins pass on third down and returned 10-yards for a touchdown.
- AU responded with a 72-yards in five plays to set up a first and goal from the UWP one.
- Adkins threw for 70 yards with 43 coming to Lucious Dones.
- After a six yard run to the one, Adkins was forced to come out of the game for a play and during that play the Spartans would fumble with UWP recovering.
- A couple plays later UWP running back dashed 75-yards for a score and AU trailed 14-0.
- AU appeared to be driving on their next possession but another turnover, this time an interception led to UWP scoring again and led the Spartans 21-0 after one quarter.
- UWP would add a pair of scores in the second quarter and AU trailed 34-0 going to halftime.
- The final score of the contest came in the third quarter with UWP again taking advantage of an AU turnover.
- AU would fall to Platteville 41-0.
