Spartans improve unbeaten non-conference record in 4-1 win over Foresters

The No. 2 Aurora University Spartan men's hockey team improved their unbeaten non-conference record on Friday night with a 4-1 victory over Lake Forest College.

The Basics

LOCATION: Fox Valley Ice Arena - Geneva, Illinois
RECORDS: #2 Aurora University 13-2-0 overall and 6-2-0 NCHA; Lake Forest College 4-10-1 overall.

How it happened
- The Spartans struck first, five seconds after killing off a LFC power play at 6:28 into the first.
- Jakson Kirk scored with an assist from Lukas Sedlacek as AU led 1-0.
- A short time later and while on a power play the Spartans hit pay dirt once again.
- A shot from Juliano Santalucia that found its way through the LFC defense but went wide of the net found the stick of Jake Code who dished the puck to Landry Schmuck and he lit the lamp for the power play tally.
- AU led 2-0 midway through the first and would be the score after one.
- With 7:02 remaining in the second, the Spartans scored again on the power play.
- Ryder Many Grey Horses got the power play tally with helpers from Jaden Davis and Simon Diaz.
- LFC broke the shutout up a short time later but AU maintained the 3-1 lead going to the second intermission.
- 4:23 into the third the Spartans struck for the final time in the game.
- Jaden Davis had a snipe to the top shelf with Roc Truman assisting on the goal.
- The latter half of the third period would be littered with penalties, three of which saw visiting Foresters sent off the ice for disqualifications or game misconducts.
- Weiss and the Spartans would make the 4-1 score hold up.
