Explosive second-half lifts Spartan women to 20th win

The Aurora University women's basketball headed to the road after a five-game home stand to take on the Eagles of Benedictine University. The Spartans exploded in the second-half for 39-points to overcome an eight-point halftime deficit and win 61-48.

- The win gives the Spartans their 20th win of the season. The 20 wins is the fifth in program history and third in the last four seasons.

How it happened
- AU opened up the game on a 9-0 run with Benedictine not scoring their first point until 5:27 remaining in the first.
- The Spartans led 17-13 after one with six points from Aurora Eklund off the bench.
- AU opened the second quarter with a three from Dani Antione and then went ice cold from the field.
- The Spartans were out-scored 17-2 the remainder of the quarter and trailed 30-22 going to halftime.
- In the third, the Spartans began to clamp down defensively and chip away at the Eagle lead.
- AU finished the third on a 7-0 run with the final five points from Krystyna Manzanarez and lead 38-37 through 30 minutes.
- The AU scoring run continued into the fourth and finished with a 13-1 run and the Spartans up six at 44-38.
- BU fought back and with 4:38 remaining the score was tied 46-46.
- The Spartans then dominated the action from the point on, forcing a pair of Eagle turnovers and holding BU to 1-of-6 shooting from the field.
- Meanwhile the Spartans went 6-of-8 from the field with three beyond from beyond the arc.
- AU out-scored BU 15-2 in the final 4:38 for the double-digit win, 61-48.
