Jose Rodriguez joined the Aurora University football staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2015. He will serve as one of the defensive line coaches for the Spartans.
He comes to AU with a vast coaching experience of 12 years at the minor league level, and 2 at the High School level, including head coach and defensive coordinator for the Leyden Lions for 11 years. He was part of 9 MSFL playoff appearances and 2 Championship appearances. Â
As a student-athlete, Rodriguez played football at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Sr. in Miami, FL.
During his time with the Leyden Lions he earned multiple awards, 2004 and 2008 Coach of the year, 2010 executive of the year, and in 2014 was inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame.Â
He earned a bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University in History and Political Science.Â
