Michael O'Brien

    Assistant Coach (Kickers and Punters)
Michael O’Brien joined the Aurora University football staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2016. He will serve as the kicking coach (punters and kickers) for the Spartans. 

O’Brien has spent the last four seasons as the kicking and punting coach at Alden-Hebron High School with the last three years serving as the Special Teams Coordinator.  Aldon Hebron made the playoffs in all four seasons, while leading the conference in punting average and field goals the last two years. They also led the league in blocked kicks over the last three seasons. 

Currently, O’Brien is the kicker for the Windy City Ravens in the MPIF Indoor Football League.  Prior to that, Michael played three seasons with the Lake County Venom where he was elected a GFL All Star in 2013, 2014 and led the league in field goals in 2015.  

O’Brien is a graduate of Northwestern College (Iowa) where he was the starting kicker for three seasons (2008, 2011 and 2012). He holds the school record for most extra points, and is 10th in career points, while leading the team to the NAIA playoffs in 2012.

A graduate of McHenry High School, O'Brien was a Four Star Kohl's Kicking Recruit.
