Nate Payne joined the Aurora University football staff for the 2016 season. He comes to AU from Walled Lake Northern High School in Walled Lake, Michigan.
At Walled Lake Payne coached varsity linebackers and receivers. Prior to his time at Walled Lake, Payne assisted at his alma mater, Clarion University in the spring of 2015. At Clarion, he was a three-year player (2013-2015) playing both linebacker and special teams. In 2015, he helped propel Clarion to a 7-4 record, their best finish since 2009.
Payne graduated from Clarion as a double major with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Athletic Coaching. He originally hails from Farmington, New York.
