Lance Robinson became the 27th Head Coach of the Aurora University men's basketball program in the summer of 2016.
Robinson joined the AU coaching staff for the 2010-2011 season as a graduate assistant coach after a stellar four-year career as a Spartan. Starting in the 2012-2013 season, Robinson remained on staff as a full-time assistant coach.
In his second season, 2017-2018, Robinson earned a distinct honor of being named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year and doubled up that honor with having previously been named a NACC Player of the Year.
The 2017-2018 Robinson led Spartans made the NCAA Tournament which is not a new thing for AU but the Spartans upset a highly ranked Washington University, St. Louis team to win the program's second NCAA game and first with Robinson's direction.
Robinson led the Spartans to a return trip to the 2018-2019 NCAA Tournament after AU won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.
In his career, Robinson had 787 points, 589 rebounds, 489 assists and 203 steals. In his senior season, Robinson, with his all-around game, averaged 13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. He had an almost three-to-one assist to turnover ratio (2.60) while shooting 48.8 percent from the field (163-of-334) and averaging 1.8 steals per game, while being named the 2009-2010 Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
Additionally, he was named by The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as a First-Team All-Midwest Region and Third-Team Midwest All-Region by D3hoops.com and First-Team All-Conference in the NAC.
Robinson came to AU from Danville, Indiana where he played his high school basketball at Danville High School. He earned his bachelor's and master's degree from Aurora University in Business.
