Tyler Jones

Tyler Jones joined the Aurora University men's basketball staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2018 with his first season on the Spartan bench coming in 2018-2019.

Jones brings a rich history in both professional and collegiate basketball having served as head coach and GM for the Connecticut Pride of the Continental Basketball Association. With the Pride Jones amassed over 100 wins, including a CBA championship and Coach of the Year honors in 1999.
 
Jones has coached several former NBA players including former University of Connecticut’s head men’s basketball coach Kevin Ollie, current New York Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson (father of Jalen Brunson) and current Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin (father of AJ Griffin).
 
After his time in the CBA, Jones moved to the Midwest to serve as an assistant coach at DePaul University under head coach Dave Leitao. Jones was a part of a Blue Demon staff that won 58 games in three seasons, including three consecutive post season tournament bids from 2002-05.
 
Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foe Concordia University Chicago hired Jones as the head men’s coach prior to the 2008-2009 season. Jones’ seven-year tenure at CUC ranks 2nd all-time and includes a Concordia Invitational Tournament championship in 2011 and a Northern Athletics Conference south division championship in 2011-2012.

Jones graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with a bachelors degree in intercultural studies and earned a masters in business administration from Concordia University-Chicago.  During his time at CUC, Jones was an adjunct professor of sports management.
 
Jones has two children, Tyler Jr. and Hayden.
