John Lidgett joined the Aurora University men's hockey coaching staff prior to the 2017-2018 season as an assistant coach.
Lidgett comes to AU after two seasons with the Huntsville Havoc in the Southern Professional Hockey League. In the 2015-2016 season, Lidgett was the SPHL Easton Rookie of the Year in a vote of league coaches, general managers and media representatives.
In addition to leading Huntsville in scoring during the 2015-2016 season, Lidgett finished second among all SPHL players in shorthanded goals (three), was second among rookies in points (42) and assists (27) and third in shots on goal (170). Prior to turning pro, Lidgett played four seasons of collegiate hockey at Colgate University where as a senior he was named co-recipient of team’s Whit Williams Award, given annually to team’s most improved player.
In his four seasons at Colgate as a center, Lidgett tallied 19 goals with 32 assists for 51 points. As a senior, he ranked among the NCAA leaders with 362 faceoff wins.
Prior to playing collegiately at Colgate, Lidgett played for the Camrose Kodiaks and Calgary Mustangs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).Â
