Cory Sackett

Cory Sackett joined the Aurora University men's volleyball coaching staff in the fall of 2019. 

Sackett comes to AU with an extensive coaching background, notably at Club 1. He has been with Club 1 since it started and works in the Club 1 program as the Assistant Club Director and College Recruiting Coordinator. He most recently had a five year stint as the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at Purdue University Northwest (NCAA Division II) and Head Coach for Men's Club Volleyball at Purdue University Northwest. In the summer of 2017 Sackett lead his 16-1 team to the National Championship Match and finished as the National Runner up at AAU's. From that team there were three AAU All Americans, and five AAU Academic All Americans. Sackett’s teams found great success in 2015 as well as His Boys 17 Elite team won an AAU National Championship as well as the Bronze Championship at Boy’s Junior National Championships fishing as the #12 ranked team in the Country and #1 ranked team in the Midwest Region. He had three players deemed AAU All-Americans, one player name the AAU-All American Tournament MVP.

Sackett was named to the AVCA Thirty Under 30 List in 2017, which is given out to the 30 most up and coming college coaches under the age of 30 across all levels of Collegiate Volleyball. He also was named a 2017 Double Goal Coach National Award Winner which is given out from the Positive Coaching Alliance for coaches who instill teaching life lessons and positive coaching through their respective sport. 

Sackett spent time working for Head Coach Dan Ames as an Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach at Dominican University in the 2013-2014 season prior to his appointment at Purdue. 

A player first, Sackett spent 10 years competing in the sport of volleyball. He was a member of The Lewis University Club Team and played at Naperville Volleyball Club and Flyer’s Volleyball Club. At Lewis, Sackett played at the setter, libero and outside hitter positions.

While attending Neuqua Valley High School, he played defensive specialist and setter positions. In his career there, he led the Wildcats to back-to-back conference titles and back-to-back-to-back regional championships before graduating in 2006. His prep career honors included the Naperville Sun naming him Neuqua's Preseason Pivotal Player, was named a three-time captain, and deemed the 2006 comeback player of the year, after he returned from an ankle injury and lead the wildcats to post season success in his senior campaign.

Sackett graduated from Lewis University in December of 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal and social justice. He now resides in Joliet, Illinois with his wife Rachel and son James.
