Aurora University baseball senior student-athlete Jacob Stockman added another top recognition to his resume when he was named to the CoSIDA District VII Academic All-District team, which was announced on Thursday. A pitcher for the Spartans, Stockman the latest AU student-athlete selected for his combined performances in the classroom and on the field.

CoSIDA Academic All-District teams are selected by CoSIDA member sports information directors within the district based on the student-athletes' academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field. To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average throughout their academic career at AU. Stockman will now move on to the Academic All-America selection process.
 
A senior mathematics major, Stockman was named the 2018 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honoree earlier today. He enters this weekend's NACC Tournament with an 8-2 record and one save in 68 innings pitched. In 11 appearances and 10 starts, Stockman has a 1.59 earned run average, has struck out 65 and opponents are hitting .225 against.. In his four years as a Spartan, he has been named a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and AU Scholar-Athlete three times each and will be again in 2017-2018 when those teams are announced.
