Aurora University freshman women's golfer Kallie Sakamoto was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week for the third time in 2018. This week's award comes on the heels of AU winning the 2018 NACC Championship.

Sakamoto captured medalist honors in the NACC Championship at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wisconsin. In firing a 20-over-par 239 to win by  four strokes over teammate Becca Hasemann, Sakamoto was honored as the NACC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and All-Conference.

The Spartans took the top three spots as a team in the championship rounds and won the title by 141 strokes. The third round score of 328 broke the Spartans own record round in a NACC Championship which was set in the opening round on Friday and the 54-hole score of 1002 also set a NACC Championship round record.

Next action for the Spartan women's golf team comes in the spring of 2019 schedule as they will prepare for the 2018-2019 NCAA Division III Championship. The NCAA Championship will take place May 14-17, 2019 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
