Aurora University Athletics

The 2019-2020 athletic seasons culminated with an early conclusion due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) but leading up to the abrupt end of the athletic season, AU was in the middle of one of the most successful years in the history of Aurora University Athletics. With those successful team achievements comes the recognition of the athletes that made the success possible, starting with the Aurora University Female Athlete of the Year. The award, as voted on by staff members of the AU Athletic Department, will be presented to senior women's track and field student-athlete Jocelyn Ocon.

Ocon was one of the spring sport athletes that saw their season abruptly ended during her already strong senior season. She receiving national accolades for her throwing performances on the track. She made a return trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships and was scheduled to enter the weight throw with the sixth ranked throw in 2020 prior to the NCAA canceling all winter championships due to COVID-19. She qualified with a distance of 18.16m/59'7". Her mark is the best throw all-time for a Spartan.

She was a USTFCCCA All-Region and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference indoor champion in the weight throw.

During the 2018-2019 season, she earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship and NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship.
