Aurora University sophomore Deyanneira Colon Maldonado was named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 12-18, 2022, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

Colon Maldonado placed fourth overall and was the top NCAA Division III finisher in a multi-divisional field at the Rhodes Invitational.

Colon Maldonado completed the 5-kilometer course at Memphis' Shelby Farms in 18:35.2. She ran the first half of the race conservatively, sitting outside of the top 10 before moving into the lead back after the first mile. Colon Maldonado surged into sixth place after the second mile, then passed two more in the final mile to finish fourth. The meet featured 14 teams and a total of 135 runners.

Next action for the Spartan women's cross country team comes on Saturday, October 1 at 12:00 p.m. as they host the Aurora University Cross Country Invitational at Northwestern Medicine XC Course in Geneva, Illinois.
