Aurora University senior Deedee Colon Maldonado was named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals. 

Colon Maldonado earned the honor after she won the women's individual title at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational, outpacing the field of 219 competitors with a time of 21:48.0. She was the only competitor to finishing in under 22 minutes and was 14.5 seconds clear of the second-place finisher. Colon Maldonado led the Spartans to a fifth-place team finish, best amongst NACC programs at the event. The time is also the fastest 6K time by a NACC runner this season.

Next action for the Spartan women's cross-country team comes on Friday, October 4 when they travel to NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals race at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. Meet time is set for 6:30 p.m. (est) in Terre Haute, Indiana.
