Box Score The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team hosted the Eagles of Benedictine University Wednesday evening in Thornton Gymnasium. AU lost the NACC contest 63-54.

The game got off to a slow start with both teams playing strong defense, not giving an inch in the
first half. The second half was a different story with Benedictine making an early run to take a 13-point lead and hold on to win.

Aurora had the advantage for the first ten minutes of the first half, warding off the Eagles 15-12. However, as the game progressed, Benedictine was able to squeeze ahead by two. At the end of the half the Eagles led the Spartans 29-27.
The Spartans came out sluggish in the second half, letting the Eagles run freely on offense. The Eagles outscored the Spartans 13-2 within the first five minutes of the half and took a 13-point lead.
Aurora began clawing their way back immediately. They came to within six with 10 minutes left in the second half, 46-40. A lay-up by
Anna Roszkowski pulled the Spartans within six.
That was the closest the Spartans came to regaining the lead as they got to within six a several more occasions but could not close the gap.
The loss drops the Spartans to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's basketball team comes on Saturday,
December 7 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
