Women's Basketball

Spartans battle Eagles in 64-62 loss.

Box Score The Aurora University women's basketball team traveled to rival Benedictine University Tuesday evening for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup. AU fell to BU 64-62.

AU fell behind early in the game with a combination of cold shooting from the field from the Spartans and a hot shooting home team at BU. Entering halftime, AU trailed 33-22.

As has been the case, the Spartans responded coming out of halftime and quickly cut into the BU lead and at 11:02 left in the game, the game was tied at 41-41 following a three-point basket from Spartan sophomore guard Bethany Dorrington.

Two and a half minutes later AU took their first lead of the game at 47-45 after Dorrington knocked down two free-throws.

The Spartans maintained the lead into the final minute when Benedictine was able to score the games final three points to gain the two point win 64-62.

Dorrington led all scorers with 24 points and added seven rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore Anna Roszkowski had 14 points and six rebounds and Shay Jenkins had 13 points and eight rebounds.

AU is now 8-9 overall and 7-5 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's basketball team comes on Saturday, January 25 when they travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis.
