Spartans fall at home to Concordia Wisconsin

Box Score The Aurora University Spartan woman's basketball team fell to the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin 72-47. The Falcons used a 47 point second half to pull away from the Spartans. The teams were tied 25-25 at halftime.

AU struggled from the field, shooting 34.8-percent for the game, while committing 24 turnovers.

After being down for most of the first half, sophomore Bethany Dorrington hit a jumper that put Aurora up 20-19 with 4:54 left in the half.

The Spartans trailed by 11 (14-3) with 13 minutes to play and began to chip away at the lead. Two free-throws by sophomore Anna Roszkowski gave AU a 25-23 lead with 30 seconds to play in the first-half but Concordia was able to tie the contest on their final possession.

The Spartans and Falcons were tied at 25 entering the halftime intermission. Roszkowski led all scorers in the first-half with eight points.

In the second-half CUW quickly started to pull away after a jumper by Anna Butler put them up 29-27 with 18:14 in the second. The Falcons used a 15-2 run in the first six minutes of the half to gain control of the contest.

Senior Shay Jenkins finished the game with 13 points and four steals, Dorrington had 12 points and eight rebounds and Roszkowski had 10 points and five rebounds.

Aurora is now 10-11 overall, and 9-7 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartans will be on Saturday, February 8 when they travel to Marian University. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wis.
