On Sunday, September 4 when the Aurora University men's soccer team takes on the Augustana College Vikings a non-conference matchup, the soccer foes will join forces for pediatric cancer awareness.
Spearheaded by AU Head Coach
Ryan Lakin, the Spartans and Vikings will come together prior to the on the field competition in an effort to help the greater good.
"This is a great opportunity for the guys to understand that we can transcend soccer to help others," said Lakin. "Sure we want to battle and defeat Augustana on the field but we know there is a bigger picture at play. Helping pediatric cancer research is important and we are excited to be able to team up with a conference foe, put our differences aside for the sake of the children and gather back on the field to rage a battle of our own."
As part of the national go4thegoal campaign to help raise pediatric cancer awareness, each team has purchased gold laces and will wear them in the game.
