Despite a double-double from junior
Adriana Ramirez, the Aurora University women's basketball team lost to Concordia University Chicago 82-72 on Wednesday night. The Spartans were out-scored by nine in the final quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans and Cougars traded baskets and leads early in the opening quarter.
Trailing 12-11, AU finished the first quarter on a 7-2 run with four different Spartans scoring in the run.
AU led 18-14 after one quarter played.
The Spartans continued the run from the first quarter into the beginning of the second (15-5) to give them a nine-point lead at 26-17 over Concordia Chicago with 7:47 left in the half.
The Cougars quickly responded by going on a 12-0 run over a 2:39 span to take a three-point lead at 29-26 midway through the second.
Just before halftime, AU answered with a 7-0 run led by great post play form
Adriana Ramirez to go up six (35-29) late in the half.
A pair of Concordia three-point baskets though pulled the game to 35-35 with 29 seconds left.
Spartan
Clarissa Perez hit two free throws with four seconds left in the half to put AU up by two points (37-35) going into the locker room.
AU saw Concordia grab the lead in the opening minute of the third quarter but the Spartans battled to stay within one on several occasions.
Trailing by six with 1:28 to play in the third quarter, the Spartans got a three-point play from
Adriana Ramirez and a pair of free-throws from
Ally Van Bogaert to head into the quarter break down by just one at 57-56.
In the fourth, the Cougars outscored AU 11-3 in the first 4:30 of the quarter to build a nine point advantage at 68-59.
Late in the fourth, the Spartans had an 8-2 run to come within five (75-70) but a 7-2 run to end the game pushed Concordia ahead with the final score of 82-72.

Alyssa Brems scored 11 points and recorded four assists.
Meija Rabi had 10 points and five rebounds.
