Spartans split doubleheader with Franklin

The Aurora University Spartan softball team traveled to Franklin, Indiana for a midweek doubleheader with the Grizzlies. The Spartans dominated game one winning 12-2 (6 inn.) before falling in game two 5-3.

How it happened
 GAME ONE 
    - With two outs in the top of the first, the Spartans scored four times on five hits, three of them doubles, to take the early lead over the Grizzlies.
    - Spartan Ashley Talaga got the two-out rally started with a double down the right field line. She scored on a single from Lexi Rayborn.
    - The rally continued when Tyler Chambers doubled to center field to score Rayborn. Delilah Aguirre followed with a double to right center scoring Chambers and Abbey Miller hit a run         scoring single to put the Spartans up 4-0.
    - The Grizzlies would score their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the first to cut the Spartan lead 4-2.
    - In the second, Talaga singled to drive in Faith Biggs and the Spartans led 5-2.
    - With one out in the third, Biggs would get a bunt down to bring in one to make it 6-2 Spartans.
    - In the fourth, Lexi Rayborn doubled to center field and scored on a single from Chambers.
    - The Spartans struck again in the fifth. Talaga and Rayborn both hit run scoring singles and AU led 9-3.
    - In the sixth, a three-run home run from Faith Biggs put the Spartans up 12-2 and would bring the mercy rule into play.
    - Hannah Tomasko set down the Grizzlies in a 1-2-3 sixth and AU was victorious.

How it happened
GAME TWO
    - The Spartans scored twice in the top of first courtesy of Ashley Talaga's run scoring double and a Franklin error.
    - Franklin took the lead scoring three in the bottom of the first with an AU error helping to fuel the rally.
    - AU tied the game 3-3 in the second on a sacrifice fly by Jemma Fiehweg to score Jordan Seyfried. 
    - In the fourth, the Grizzlies took the lead bringing home two runs on a hit and wild pitch.
    - AU had scoring chances in the fifth and sixth inning but the Spartans bats fell silent.
