Spartans sweep day two of spring trip

The Aurora University softball swept the second day doubleheader on the spring trip, winning 8-0 (5 inn) over Monmouth College and 5-1 over Nebraska Wesleyan University.

How it happened
 GAME ONE vs. Monmouth College
    - AU wasted little time scoring in the contest as Faith Biggs scored on a Lexi Rayborn single.
    - Later in the inning, Christina Richards grounded into a fielders choice that allowed Ashley Talaga to score the second run.
    - In the second, the Spartans rallied with two outs and scored four times on five hits.
    - Two run scoring singles from Faith Biggs and Ashley Talaga were followed by a two run double from Rayborn and AU led 6-0.
    - A scoreless frame from Rylee Campbell in the third set up the offense to add one in the fourth.Talaga led off the fourth with a double and she scored on a single from Tyler Chambers.
    - AU took advantage of an error and added one run in the bottom of the fifth to bring the mercy rule into play.
    - Rylee Campbell earned her first collegiate win only giving up two hits and striking out six.

How it happened
GAME TWO vs. Nebraska Wesleyan University
    - Nebraska Wesleyan threatened in the first but was unable to push a run across.
    - Josephine Lytton got the Spartan offense going with a single to lead off the top of the first. With one out, Ashley Talaga walked and Lexi Rayborn had a bases clearing double to score two.
    - Spartan Emma Bachio, pinch running for Rayborn, scored on Tyler Chamber's two out single for the third run in the first inning. 3-0 Spartans.
    - Nebraska Wesleyan took advantage of a Spartan error and scored one in the top of the second.
    - In the top of the sixth, Seyfried turned a double play to keep AU's 3-1 lead
    - The Spartans used the momentum in the bottom of the 6th when Chambers singled to left field and would score on the next hitter Delilah Aguirre triple. Aguirre would later score on a Seyfried single.  
    -  Hannah Tomasko would shut the Prairie Wolves offense down the rest of the way to give the Spartans a 5-1 win.
