Spartans toss pair of shutouts at Warriors

The Aurora University Spartan softball team posted another doubleheader sweep of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foe, this time tossing a pair of shutout wins in defeating the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College. AU won 3-0 and 10-0.

How it happened
 GAME ONE 
- The Spartans had base runners in four of the first five innings but could not push across a run.
- Meanwhile, starter Hannah Tomasko kept the Warriors offense down, tossing a two-hit shutout..
- In the top of the seventh the Spartans managed to string some hits together.
- Tyler Chambers and Delilah Aguirre both singled to start the inning and Shelby Linn was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A Jordan Seyfried single would score two and AU led 2-0.
- Jemma Fiehweg hit a sac fly to push across a third run in the inning.
- The runs were enough for Tomasko who completed the shutout in the bottom of the inning as AU won 3-0.

How it happened
GAME TWO
- AU wasted no time scoring in game two with Josephine Lytton leading off with a single and stealing both second and third. She then scored on an Ashley Talaga single.
- In the second, Lytton doubled in Faith Biggs for a 2-0 AU lead.
- The Spartans loaded the bases in the third with one out but managed a sac fly from Shelby Linn that scored Talaga.
- The fourth saw AU put up a crooked number for the first time on the day with a lead-off home run off the left field light pole from Biggs. An error and hit by pitch followed to Lytton and Jemma Fiehweg. The pair then pulled off a double steal with Lytton scoring on a throwing error by the catcher. A walk and hit by pitch then loaded the bases before Tyler Chambers drove in Fiehweg with a sac fly.
- Going to the bottom of the fourth, AU led 6-0 with starting pitcher Rylee Campbell coasting in the circle.
- Four straight hits in the fifth started the inning with a double from Jordan Seyfried and singles from Biggs, Lytton and Fiehweg. Later in the inning Abbey Miller hit a pinch hit ground rule double for the fourth run of the inning.
- The Spartans would win 10-0 in five innings.
