Aurora University freshman goalie Phillip Gianelle was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Gianelle earned the honor after he allowed one goal over two games as the Spartans defeated Monmouth College in a shutout, 16-0, and Beloit College, 30-3, both on the road. Gianelle made nine saves in the winning efforts and continued to improve on his nationally leading goals against average.

On the season, he leads NCAA Division III with 5.61 caused turnovers per game. He has a 12-3 overall record and has made 103 saves for a .606 save percentage..
