Aurora University men's wrestler Christian Komitas was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in men's wrestling, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Komitas earned the honor after he was the winner of the 174-pound bracket at Saturday's season-opening Pointer Open.
 
A junior, Komitas outscored his opponents 73-10 in five wins at the event hosted by Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Komitas opened competition on Saturday with two technical falls in the first three rounds. He produced another tech fall in the semifinal, defeating Luis Cruces of Luther by a score of 17-1. Facing Carson Trotzer of host Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the final, Komitas delivered a major decision with a 17-6 triumph.

Next action for the Spartan men's wrestling team comes on Saturday, November 11 when they travel to the Millikin University Invitational in Decatur, Illinois.
