Parra nets hat trick as AU drops Falcons 3-2 in 2 OT

Box Score The Aurora University men's soccer team came out with a big 3-2 double-overtime win again Conordia
University-Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Anthony Parra was instrumental in the Spartans win netting three goals on the day.

The first half played out with both teams try to gain control of the game. The first quality opportunity of the game came in the 20th minute when Spartan senior Colby Newquist struck a ball from 30 yards out that hit the crossbar and stayed out.

The Falcons generated a chance of their own when a free kick served into the box was met by a Kyle Sytsma header. Spartan senior keeper Ethan Cashen was up to the challenge making a spectacular diving save to his right to keep the game level.

The teams finished out the first half with out anymore scoring opportunities. The Falcons held a slight advantage in shots at 7-5 when the half came to a close.
Just 10 minutes into the second half Parra ripped a volley from 30 yard out that Falcon keeper Sam Ische struggled to deal with, but was able to keep out of the net.

Just three minutes later Parra picked up the ball near midfield before unleashing another scorching shot, this time beating Ische to his left hand side to put the Spartans up 1-0.

With just 13 minutes to play the Falcons were able to equalize. A long throw-in by Jacob Pope was volleyed into the goal by Tyler Harris after being flicked on by Kyle Sytsma.

Parra struck again with eight minutes to play. This time junior defender Kory Seddon passed a ball out of the back that found Parra's feet.
Parra was able to turn and blasted another shot from outside the box, beating Ische for the his second goal of the day.

The Falcons were resilient once again as they knotted up the score with just over two minutes to play. This time Pope played a cross in that Sytsma was able to redirect with his head into the goal and force overtime.

The match looked like it was going end in a 2-2 draw until Parra was once again able to work his magic. The junior received a pass from sophomore Jason O'Brien just outside the corner of the penalty area. Parra was able to get in on goal and bury the chance giving the Spartans the win and completing his hat trick.

Cashen made seven saves in goal for the Spartans while improving his record to 4-3-1 on the season. AU is now 6-3-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the NAC. The loss drops Concordia-Wisconsin to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the NAC. The Spartans will be in action again on Tuesday, October 2 against Concordia University Chicago. The game is set to kick off at 2 p.m. on Vago Field
