Box Score The Aurora University men's soccer team defeated the visiting Cougars of Concordia University Chicago 4-1 Wednesday afternoon on Vago Field.
The first 25 minutes of action played out as a back and forth affair with the two conference foes feeling out the others style of play.
AU had enough of the scoreless tie at 26:03 though when senior
Anthony Parra found the back of the Cougar net off an assist from
Alex Brunell.
Nine minutes later senior
Corey Novotny scored his first goal off the season on a header. He received assistance from
Jon Rosenbaum who flicked a throw in from
Jason O'Brien to Novotny for the score and a 2-0 AU lead.
A little over four minutes later AU struck again. O'Brien found
Jon Palomar who lit the lamp for the Spartans third goal in 13 minutes.
AU took the 3-0 lead into halftime and held a 14-2 advantage in shots for the half as well.

Patrick Ries scoring his first goal as a Spartan.
AU would hold on to the 4-1 victory and improve their record to 6-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Next action for the Spartan men's soccer team comes on
Sunday,
September 29, when they host Lakeland College. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. on Vago Field.
