The Aurora University Spartan men's indoor track and field team completed the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) sweep on Saturday, March 1 at Carthage College, capturing the 2014 NACC Championship with 186.5 points, winning by 61.5 points. The Spartan men scored early and often in the meet and coasted to the win and conference championship.
AU had 29 Spartan individuals or teams score points and 14 Spartans finished with medals. AU Head Coach
Ryan Chapman was named the NACC Men's Head Coach of the Year and freshman
Deven Thompson was named the NACC Co-Field Athlete of the Meet and NACC Freshman of the Meet.

AU had five conference championships with Thompson winning the long jump (6.58 meters) and triple jump (13.24 meters),
Matt Meyers winning the mile run (4:27.99) and
Kyle Kayzar winning the 800 meter (1:58.51). The distance medley relay of
Malik Dorris,
Nico Gonzalez, Kayzar and
Drew Schmitt won with a time of 10:39.06, setting a new NACC Championships record.

Next action for the Spartans comes on Friday, March 7 when they compete in the Last Chance Meet at Carthage College. Meet time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
