The Aurora University football team will kick off the 2014 season with the first of four community service events. AU players and coaches are teaming up with the Oswego Community and
Macey Brooks to help run the Oswego Beats and Eats music festival, which runs on Saturday, August 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Prairie Point Park in Oswego, Illinois.
75 of the players will be helping at the entrance/exit gates, cleaning the grounds, selling raffle tickets, and helping festival goers with questions and directions.
"This is a great opportunity to integrate into our local community," said Head Coach
Rick Ponx. "One of the core philosophies at Aurora University is service and the student-athletes for all of our teams embrace that belief."
The Beats and Eats event will raise funds for culinary and musical scholarships for local students as well as abenefit Chicago Bears Cares and the Kendall County Food Pantry.
