History will be made on several fronts Wednesday night when the only two NCAA hockey teams in Illinois, the Aurora University Spartans and Lake Forest College Foresters face off in an outdoor game at The Winter Club on Wednesday, December 9, at 7:00 p.m.

For the Spartans the non-conference game at Lake Forest will mark the first meeting of the two Illinois NCAA men's hockey teams while also being the first outdoor game for the Spartan program.

OUTDOOR GAME LOCATION AND INFORMATION -
The Winter Club is located less than a mile north of Lake Forest College on Sheridan Road (map/directions). Outdoor hockey has been played there for more than a century and it is currently the home of boys and girls youth teams playing at several different levels.

Temporary bleachers will be brought in for Wednesday's game, although the most popular spots to watch the game, as they were in the 1960s when Lake Forest called The Winter Club its home rink, are expected to be closer to the action along the boards on the east and north sides of the playing surface. Admission to the game is free and, since there is no public parking available at the facility, a shuttle will run from Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse to The Winter Club throughout the evening. Although unlikely, weather could prevent the game from being played outdoors and force the teams to face off in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.

ABOUT AU
In the first season in the NCHA and first full season of NCAA action, AU is 1-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the NCHA. The Spartans will enter the outdoor game at Lake Forest after being defeated 6-2 and 5-3 in a home-and-home series with Concordia University Wisconsin last weekend.

- Trevor Hoth has seven points with two goals and five assists.
- Rihards Marenis has six points with three goals and three assists.
- Tom Greene has five points with three goals and two assists.
- Jared Rutledge leads the netminders with a 1-7-1 record with a 4.96 goals against average and a .886 save percentage.

ABOUT LAKE FOREST
Lake Forest College is currently 4-6-0 overall and 3-5-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Foresters split a pair of games last weekend at Northland College, falling 5-1 on Friday and prevailing 5-2 on Saturday.

FORESTER KEY PLAYERS -
- Billy Kent has seven points, five goals and two assists.
- Charlie Izaguirre has six points, five assists and one goal.
- Leo Podolsky leads the netminders with a 3-4 record with a 4.14 goals against average and a .883 save percentage.

The Spartans will return to the ice in 2016 on Friday, January 8 when they host Adrian College. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, Illinois.
