Aurora University softball junior infielder Lexie Rayborn was recognized for her efforts in the classroom and on the diamond today when the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the members of the 2022 Softball Academic All-America teams.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® honor is chosen based off the student-athletes combined prowess on the field and in the classroom is the latest achievement. Rayborn becomes the 39th Spartan student-athlete and 12th from the AU softball program to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-America. 

Rayborn was named to the Second-Team All-America team as a criminal justice and political science double major. Earlier in the 2022 award season, Rayborn was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District recipient and a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference selection. On the season she hit .417 with 16 doubles, six home runs, 38 runs batted in and 19 runs scored, had a .680 slugging percentage and .464 on-base percentage. Rayborn was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection following the 2021 season as well.

The AU softball team finished the 2022 season with a 31-8 overall record and went 19-5 in the NACC.

The Academic All-America teams are selected by CoSIDA member sports information directors based on the student-athletes' academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field. To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average throughout their academic career at AU.
